Building upon the revitalization successes in Downtown Toledo and the new Main Street Program on Adams Street, Neighborhoods In Partnership and Harvard Development, along with RVA Properties, are in the final planning stages of a multi-structure urban living apartment complex on Adams Street between Jackson Boulevard and Franklin Avenue.

Site plan of New Cheney Flats showing buildings.      When completed in late fall of 2002, the New Cheney Flats buildings will put their arms around a 1.2 acre site on Adams Street. Four different buildings are planned for the site ranging from 3 to 4 stories each. Sixty-five apartments with three separate designs of two, three, and four bedroom units are planned. A shared community room, laundry facilities, and almost 1,000 square feet of commercial space are also included. Elevators will be included in the four story structure. Additionally, each apartment will have at least one designated parking space within the central courtyard. A shared green space and children's play area are planned along with heavy landscaping.

Besides offering comfortable downtown living at an affordable price, the New Cheney Flats will help achieve a density of population that is necessary for urban living. It is hoped that in the near future, and coinciding with the UpTown Main Street program, that new shops, restaurants, galleries, and other commercial businesses will open along Adams Street thereby bridging the gap between the Old West End neighborhoods and downtown toledo.
