On January 15th, 2001, a small bulldozer and a tracked excavator were driven off their trailers and put to work digging the basements for the first of the ROAR Project homes.
The next day, January 16th, concrete footers for the foundation walls were formed and poured. The day after that, January 17th, forms for the foundation walls were placed and concrete was poured into the forms to create the foundation walls. The forms will be removed and the concrete walls will be allowed to cure for about 10 days.
On January 29th the modules making up the first house arrived and were lifted onto the foundation by crane. The front half of the first floor was placed and then the back half was placed.
The roof was shipped flat on top of the second floor modules. The roofs were raised into position using jacks and secured before the second floor modules were set into place.
With their roofs raised, the second floor modules were lifted and set into place.
Plumbing, electrical, and finish work will now start on the interior of the house. The front porch and the attached garage will be built later.
Siding is going on and the garage is being built. The garage is not preassembled so it has to be built on site.

Here are two nearly finished homes just days away from move-in. Landscaping has been completed and lawns are hydro-seeded.
Only a few details need to be attended to and these two homes will be ready for occupancy.
